I think it’s a great idea. I’d gladly pay the $1, and I hope more restaurants get on-board with this!

I think it’s a good idea if you’re willing to pay the dollar, but many people get water when they dine out to reduce cost. I’m all for charity but not when it’s forced.

How about our Food Bank instead?

I’m pretty sure it is up to the customer if they want to donate or not.

Hi, I’m one of the students working on the project. Like Ross said, restaurant-goers will not be forced to pay $1 for tap water that week, rather they can add $1 to their bill if they wish, with the proceeds going to UNICEF.
The reason this is for UNICEF rather than a local charity is because the Richmond Tap Project is part of the national Tap Project initiative that will take place March 16-22. Richmond is one of 14 cities taking part. One way to look at it is you will be supporting local restaurants if you decide to eat at a Tap Project participating restaurant during that week.
If you want more information about the Tap Project, you can visit tapproject.org. The Richmond Tap Project website should be up by the end of next week.

If it’s voluntary, I’m all for it. The original post says “charge”, which has connotations of involuntary, thus my complaint. Couldn’t find any description on the adcenter news page, so I ran with it.

Well Dave, then YES. Yes I would pay a $1.
