It should be something that honors the teams and the players in the old Negro league – Richmond Eagles, Richmond Monarchs, Richmond Stars, Richmond Grays. MLB missed this opportunity when they expandend. Richmond shouldn’t miss the same chance to pay respect to these players.
Richmond Rapids….we should promote the fact we have class IV rapids within our city limits! The James River is one of the best things about Richmond, so why not play off that?
Richmond along with all of our wonderful Commonwealth has so much to be proud of, why not name our new ball team, The Pride of Richmond, or The Richmond Pride.

RICHMOND RESILIENCE! The ability to spring
back from defeat, disappointment or failure.
I think The Cannons is a better name than any of the 5 finalist. Has a connection to Richmond’s history. Try to hit a Cannon ball. Has attitude. Easy to say.
Or just The Rocks. Drop “Hoppers.” Still has a connection to the James. Do we really need to spell it out? Has more attitude. The Richmond Rocks has a nice ring to it. But I would just call them The Rocks.
