Update: Richmond’s water restrictions

They city has updated their water restrictions as follows:

  • Established Landscape & Gardens: Monday – no watering
  • Odd number property addresses: Water on Tues., Thurs. and Sat.
  • Even number property addresses: Water on Wed., Fri. and Sun.
  • New Landscape: Unrestricted for first 10 days after planting, then limited to the “Established Landscape and Gardens” measures
  • Ornamental fountains: Operation is prohibited
  • Vegetable gardens: Limited to any two days per week and between 8 p.m. and 10 a.m. on any day. Bucket watering is unrestricted.
  • Paved Areas Washing (Streets, Drives, Patios, Walks, etc.): Washing is prohibited except for immediate health and safety concerns
  • Vehicle Washing: Limited to one day per week using a hand-held watering hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle (Commercial vehicle washing businesses are exempt).
  • Golf Courses (Greens exempt): Restricted to 6 days per week between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m.
  • Businesses/Restaurants: Limited to essential uses. Water provided only upon request.

And just as an FYI for those who feel like violating the restrictions:

Penalties for violators within the City of Richmond will receive a written warning for the first offense. Fines for additional offenses range from $50 to $100 for residential violations and $100 to $200 for commercial violations.

  1. One would think that if Henrico is buying gas from the city that Henrico would have to follow any restrictions that the City imposes.
