Two (possible) arrests on the 3000 block of Grayland

Two young black kids were pulled out of a old white Caddy and put in handcuffs tonight. The police searched the car for a while and pulled out a tiny handgun and nothing else — that I could see.

Does anyone have our sector leut.’s email address? I’d like to email her and see what the ruckus was all about.

  1. I saw those kids yesterday afternoon in the 3100 block of Grayland running back to their car and peeling out. I don’t think they live on the street, but I could be wrong.

    I don’t have a e-mail, but her phone number is Lieutenant Sybil El-Amin- 646-1412

    Maybe that helps.

  2. Update: They took the two guys away in cop cars. They also took a bike that was laying near by. This morning the plates were gone off the car.

The gun looked something like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kel-Tec_P-32

  3. Yeah I’ve never seen that particular car parked on my block before. I’ll give her a call and see what she says and maybe I’ll get her email.

  6. This possible arrest occured outside my house. Should we be on the look out for people cars that are out of place and engaged in unusual behavior for a residential neighborhood (running to their car and peeling out)?

With neighborhood watch a call during the day may have been warranted.

The car was still sitting there this morning, without plates. I don’t think it has moved since the police were there.

  7. Lt. El-Amin is going to give me a call later today. I’ll ask her some of these questions and report back!

  8. Well the old car was towed today during the street cleaning. By the way, this street cleaning seems awfully weak.

I just moved here from Little Rock, when they cleaned the streets there they would blast them with a lot of water and then run the sweeper over street.

Ross, are you neigbors? I am at Garyland & Sheppard.

  9. Hello all,
This message is in reference to the two men arrested in the 3000 block of Grayland Ave on April 3rd. A concerned citizen (THAT MUST BE APPLAUDED) called and stated that there were two men sitting in a vehicle. The men had been sitting in the vehicle for awhile and their behavior seemed suspicious. An officer responded. When the two men saw the officer, they immediately got out of the car and tried to walk away. They were instructed by the officer to get back into the vehicle. The officer asked them what they were doing in the area. They replied they were “test driving the car”. The officer noticed a handgun in the floorboard of the vehicle. He called for back-up. One of the men was charged for possession of a firearm. The other was a juvenile and was released to his guardian. The tags on the car did not match the registration. The vehicle was towed and impounded. Reading over the report submitted by the officer, there is no doubt in my mind that these two men were up to NO GOOD. It is imperative that concerned citizens continue to call us about ALL suspicious activities. The non-emergency number is 646-5100. If you have any concerns and would like to address them with me, please call my office 646-1944. I look forward to speaking with you.
