TJ students talk racial reconciliation

From the RTD.

Some interesting quotes:

Calvin Walker at Thomas Jefferson said, “There’s a lot of poverty in Richmond. We might not have as many choices as if we had not come here the way that we did.”

and

A typed question popped up on the screen: “Do people in Richmond still support the ideas of the Confederacy?”

Richmond students jumped up to answer.

“Yes,” said Tillery, recalling a Confederate-heritage parade on nearby Monument Avenue.

Then Thomas Jefferson student Justin Schabinger took the microphone, telling the Liverpool students that sometimes when people fly Confederate flags they are celebrating their family history, not slavery.
