Awesomer than The Fan.

The Richmond Marathon will spend 60 seconds in the Museum District

We’re all familiar with the 8K sign hanging in the window of Monument and Boulevard. But the Richmond Marathon will be spending only about 60 seconds in the Museum District, racing past on Monument. The 8K and the half marathon aren’t running through the Museum District. The 8k goes as far as Mulberry St., and the half marathon will run up Boulevard, but on the wrong side, completely skipping the the Museum District so it can finish with minimum obstruction to traffic.

  1. Actually, both sides of the Boulevard are within the boundaries of the Museum District.

  2. I’m sure the people on the other side of the Boulevard would claim they are in the Fan.

  3. Anyone who lives on the Boulevard and claims to live within the Fan District would be mistaken. The Museum District east-west boundaries include the entire Boulevard and run west to I-195.

Perhaps some of the people who live on the east side of the Boulevard, and thought that they were in the Fan, now know that they are actually in the Museum District. Thank you for the opportunity to clear that up!

  4. The Museum District home tour included houses on the east side of boulevard last year. I was confused at the time, but now it all makes sense.

  5. The area north of Monument between Thompson and the east alley of the Boulevard up to but not including Broad is also in the Museum District, therefore, the race also passes through (not simply past)the MD along Monument.
