Bad.
This is linked to a Mexican restaurant on the Southside, both very good. As RTD reported, nothing special about it–just another Mexican place. I think that’s what I like about it.
Best of all, they give you the white sauce and the red sauce with your chips.
The only bad thing: I always seem to think “yes, please” is the right answer to “¿More chips, Señor?” I always regret it.
Man I love their white sauce, its got a ton of sugar in it. The place is about 1$ more expensive should be, but as someone said “their rent is probably 1$ more than it should be too.”
Anyone who’s had a mexican meal in Richmond and left satisfied has obviously never eaten mexican in other cities. We are really behind the curve on this one. Is there even anywhere in Richmond to get Horchata?
They should change the name to Muerte Mexico! Okay, that’s a little harsh. But the food has no taste. Except for that white sauce. It’s like a train-wreck of dijon and ranch. Why?
For real Mexican food, go to Taqueria del Sol. Order the Horchata as your drink. Then split the ceviche tostadas (or the gorditas con verduras). If you’re still hungary (and you eat meat) order the “tacos pastor.” This dish will blow your mind and bring you back weekly.
Yes, Amy, there is good Mexican in Richmond. Just beware of the staple combination plate items on the gringo menu. Another winner is the shrimp coctail and the caldo de pollo. Read more about the place on my blog.
I have to agree with Amy & RVA Foodie, this place was really disappointing for me. The beans make or break a place in my opinion and they were a real let-down here.
I’m so happy to read RVA Foodie’s comments re: Taqueria del Sol. I’ve been meaning to try them out, now I definitely need to head down there this weekend.
A huge disappointment. The chile relleno was a tasteless overcooked mess. Even the beans and rice were mediocre.
[...] Deli. We should have remained at the Deli and eaten there, because, as succinctly stated by the West of the Boulevard blog, this new Mexican restaurant was “bad.” Also, I cannot remember the name of this [...]
