Suspicious package turns out to be… an empty suitcase
WTVR has the story of a suitcase left near a railing at First Baptist Church on Saturday night from a missions trip. Authorities were called and police broke out the bomb robot. The suitcase was empty.
The link is worth it for the picture of the bomb robot alone. I’m wondering how many bombs the Richmond bomb robot has actually prevented from detonating.
Another incident last week. An abandoned duffel bag turned out to be… and abandoned duffel bag filled with clothes.
I reask my question: How many of these police interventions actually turned up an explosive? My guess is 0.
Am I alone in thinking packages/bags should be treated as harmless unless there is a reason to think they’re dangerous. Seems like a tremendous waste of resources.
