Richmond.com posed a question to RMA’s public relations manager asking why the stairs at the Crenshaw Carytown parking lot are closed for construction but no progress is being made. RMA’s response - “The RMA with working with the City of Richmond to identify funding sources for this issue at the Carytown Parking Decks.”
I wonder if they’ll get enough of those newly enforced Carytown parking ticket fees to pay for this? Maybe that was their whole plan from the beginning and step fixin’s are on the way!?

I thought the typo was more of a reflection of RMA than Richmond.com. Either way, I thought it was appropriate to leave the typo in.

Sorry, Addicted, the revenue stream from the parking fees is separate form the RMA’s. The parking meter police are independent contractors– you know, kind of like Blackwater.
The RMA is a separate entity, a public-private organization that was created by mandate of the General Assembly. It is governed by an appointed board that has nothing really to do with you or me. It’s kind of like the British Parliament prior to the Revolution.
They claim de facto representation of our interests, and we should stop worrying our pretty little heads about the toll increases.
I’m glad you reproduced the typo. This just kind of says it all.
Funding sources? For concrete stairs? Do we blame this on China, too? There is lame, and then there’s that press release.

Ahhh, yes, “private/public partnerships”.
Is it any coincidence that there’s talk of building more downtown parking decks for the white elephant arts center project while this existing parking deck is left in disrepair?
End downtown corporate welfare and put taxpayer money to work helping citizens and small businesses.
