Spring Alley Cleanup – April 18
From MDA:
The Museum District Association will hold the Spring Alley Clean Up Saturday, April 18 and needs your help to keep our neighborhood clean!
The MDA coordinates two neighborhood alley cleanups each year (Spring and Fall) where neighborhood volunteers help reduce the amount of trash, appliances, and furniture littering our alleyways.
To ensure a successful cleanup, we will need approximately 30 volunteers, which will be divided up into teams of 5-6 to do a sweep through each of the five designated zones in the Museum District. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Ronnie Evans at MDAenvironment(at)museumdistrict(dot)org.
As always, the MDA appreciates any amount of time that residents can devote to the alley cleanup projects.
What: The Spring Alley Cleanup
When: April 18, 2009 from 7:30-11:30 AM
Where: Meet at Benedictine High School. Cleanup throughout the Museum District.
Hot coffee and donuts will be provided.

In response to recent changes instituted by the Department of Public Works, The MDA will be modifying the alley cleanup procedures this year. Rather than having volunteers placing debris into trash trucks on the day of the cleanup, we will place all possible trash into supercans, and make note of any larger items that need to be picked up.
These items would then be picked up by the City during the next scheduled Bulk Item Collection week, April 26-May 2.
Richmond’s Bulk Item Collection program is there for you every month. The City of Richmond provides the Bulk Item Collection service throughout the year, on a four-week, rotating schedule based on Zip Code.
Residents are strongly encouraged to call in requests for Bulk Item Collection during the designated weeks to reduce the amount of larger items in the alleys. Residents should place items beside their Supercan out of the roadway AND schedule a collection by phone or online request the week prior to the scheduled collection week.
Upcoming Collection Weeks in the Museum District:
March 29, April 26 and May 2
To place a request:
Call the City’s Customer Care Center at 3-1-1 or visit the City’s website to place a Citizen’s Request on line. Requests should be made no later than the Friday before the collection week.
