Slamfest VII tonight at the Robins Center

Slamfest VII, the event that brings the top Virgina high school basketball teams together for a round-robin style tourney, starts tonight with a huge matchup - Benedictine vs. Oak Hill Academy. Oak Hill Academy is the #1 high school basketball team in the country and is always heavily recruited by top college teams. Duke usually has at least one Oak Hill grad on their team.

In last year’s Slamfest VI, Oak Hill beat Benedictine 71-58, but this year Benedictine is catching Oak Hill at the perfect time. Oak Hill just lost earlier in the week in a nationally televised game on ESPN. Benedictine, the #1 team in the area according to the Richmond Times Dispatch poll, has a chance to knock-off Oak Hill as they lick their wounds.

Game 1, featuring Collegiate versus Mills Godwin will tip off at 6pm, and the Benedictine - Oak Hill Academy game is scheduled for a 7:30 tip off.

Round two will be held @ Benedictine on Monday.

For more information, you can check out the Slamfest VII website, although I will warn you that the site is terrible. Make sure you turn down your speakers.
