Rogue parking lot on Monument incites anger
The corner of Colonial and Monument used to be a lawn (pictured left). Now, it’s a parking lot. And no, the owner didn’t bother to ask permission or file a single permit.
That’s the scoop that Style Weekly delivers in this week’s issue.
What’s infuriating is the fact that the owner was so bold as to construct the lot without a permit and thinks he can get away with it. It takes a lot of nerve to slap the city and the Museum District community in the face like that.
What about safety? What about city planning? What about the environment?
I’m hoping that the city comes down swiftly and severely. The city may want to take a page out of the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, which levied a $100K fine on a developer who shirked rules on wetland protection. (RTD)
