Rainbow Donuts closes up shop

A Richmond classic has called it quits and sold out to McDonald’s. Rainbow Donuts is no more.
That place was amazing, and their blueberry donuts were 2nd to none. Many WOTB shed a tear when they heard the news.

They didn’t sell out to McDs. The owner of the building where they were located did. They would have loved to stay in the location.

“sniff, sniff” this is a sad day. it’s true, the blueberry donuts are way better than you could ever imagine. stupid McDonald’s, with all your money.

If you all are talking about the Rainbow Doughnuts at 2722 W. Broad street by the CVS, that’s um, East of the Boulevard. I went there once every three years. Guess, I won’t be goin there no more.

I never managed to set food in that place.
Too many sketchy dudes hanging around outside.

Noooooooooo!!!!!
Hands down the best donuts in the city. “Sketchy dudes” are often permanent fixtures at a good donut shop.

I love Rainbow Donuts! I asked the owner about a month ago if he was closing, he said he was trying to find a new location. I would love to know if he found a new place or indeed closed up shop.

Man, I remember my first experience with Rainbow Donuts… I walked in and two Russian men were arguing about czars. Good times.

STILL missing Rainbow! :( There IS no place to compare…My Tastey Bake on 25th street closed with the BEST glazed long johns and now my other place.
Those “dudes” hanging around?…. :) nothing can keep you from a good donut — IF you want one! :) Just “man-up” and walk on…amazingly…good food will give you guts! LOL I’ve searched and searched… what is Donut Connection, that’s “?” don’t like dirty windows…can’t see the goods! :o

John and Desi — it is also my understanding the the new Lamplighter coffee place on Addison serves Country Style Doughnuts. Which I think is GENIUS and a huge service to those of us who are in the Fan more than in the East End!
