My Trip to 3325 West Café
Posted on | May 7, 2010 | No Comments
I finally made it over to 3325 West Café yesterday. I could not motivate myself to make it over there. It looked like a fine enough place. Really, you can’t ask for a better dining al fresco spot in Carytown. I think it was the menu that kept me from just going there on my own. Well, yesterday I had a business lunch and so I thought that was a good enough excuse to finally try it. Read more

New, Low Cost Pet Clinic in Carytown
Posted on | April 20, 2010 | No Comments
This post is from the blog, Richmond Daily Pet
If you have a pet (or two, or more) you know how expensive vet care can be — even the non-emergency, routine stuff like office visits and heartworm tests. The mission of Helping Hands Veterinary Surgical and Dental Care is to provide high quality surgical and dental care to your pet at affordable rates. To do this, they limit services to “soft tissue surgery and dental care only.” That means no office visits or consultation time (or fees)… Read More
MDA to Hold Spring Alley Clean Up
Posted on | April 20, 2010 | No Comments
The Museum District Association will hold the Spring Alley Clean Up Saturday, April 24 and needs your help to keep our neighborhood clean!
The MDA coordinates two neighborhood alley cleanups each year (Spring and Fall) where neighborhood volunteers help reduce the amount of trash, appliances, and furniture littering our alleyways.
To ensure a successful cleanup, we will need approximately 30 volunteers, who will be divided up into teams of 5-6 to do a sweep through each of the five designated zones in the Museum District. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Robert Traub at or at 803-213-0163 or via e-mail at MDAenvironment@museumdistrict.org.
As always, the MDA appreciates any amount of time that residents can devote to the alley cleanup projects.
What: The Spring Alley Cleanup
When: April 24, 2009 from 7:30-11:30 AM
Where: Meet at Benedictine High School cafeteria (enter the parking lot off Belmont between Stuart and Hanover). Hot coffee and donuts will be provided.

Here is what I would like to know. While it is sad to see Ukrops go, what are you excited about by having Martins?
Opening Night at the Diamond
Posted on | April 16, 2010 | 1 Comment
The Diamond was SOLD OUT. People actually went to a baseball game and were excited to be there. It was hard to ignore the buzz. Yesterday’s home opener was going to be crazy. Richmond has realized that it had made a mistake by letting its previous team go, and they showed their support by making it out to the yard.
I just kept wondering, could the Flying Squirrels replace the R-Braves? Read more

Kathy Halenda in
The Brassy Broads of Broadway
Wed – Sat evening at 8 pm;
Sunday matinee at 4 pm
Tickets $25
A musical tribute to the gutsy gals who put the “Broad” in Broadway! Kathy Halenda — a raucous bundle of Ethel Merman. Bette Midler, Lainie Kazan and Carol Burnett, all rolled into one dynamic powerhouse — takes you on a joyous journey of why we love these characters, including Auntie Mame, Mama Rose, Fanny Brice, Dolly Levi, Reno, Miss Mona, Annie Oakley and Sally Bowles, with a dash of Ms. Halenda’s own special brand of zany playfulness tossed in.
From wistful ballads to show stopping Broadway classics, this show will touch AND tickle you. So come on…travel a Broad!

Tis’ true. Café Olé is coming to Carytown according to Style Weekly.
The restaurant will be located in the old Ben & Jerry’s location.
Pretty soon, Mexican cuisine (3) will be rivaling Thai (4) as the dominant ethnic cuisine in Carytown.
Have you been to the downtown location? Are you going to check it out once it opens?
