New development at Park and Sheppard

Posted on | February 9, 2007 | 4 Comments

From tipster Al:

I was surprised today to see, as I passed by the familiar intersection of Park and Sheppard, a large green dumpster parked next to the long deserted bar formerly known as the Ritz. What more there was a fence adorned with a series of NO TRESPASSING SIGNS. Two notices were posted to the door.

Is this the beginnings of a new addition to the Devil’s Triangle barscene? Or perhaps competition for the Black Hand Coffee Shop?

Let’s hope its not Starbucks.

Seriously, let’s hope it is not a Starbucks.

Anything’s better than an empty building, though a Starbucks would be disappointing.

Word had it last summer that Akida was moving there from Robinson St. and would include a rooftop garden.

Not sure if that is still the plan or not but would be very cool.

I came across this posting as I was typing up a post of my own about this and another restaurant going up in Carytown.

The restaurant will be upscale Italian dining, from what I understand. I don’t know the finer details, but I do know it won’t be a Starbucks. :)
