I love the Chalk Day idea. It is a wonderful way to show off Richmond's art culture and attract the attention of public school art departments from the surrounding counties thus attracting new business for the shops. Everyone wins.

Really like the idea of a "Chalk Day." They do something like that in Santa Barbara CA. I think it would be best as a part of an overall Arts Day that would feature visual arts, music, food etc.

I think the beer festival idea has a lot of negatives. Carytown should stick with a wine festival or even have one in the spring and one in the fall. Send the beer festival down to Browns Island.

Responsible Adult - with all due respect, living in a city does come with noise and activity, usually the reason people seek out a busy area. And yes if you don't like it you are free to move. Again, presumably.

The Watermelon Festival is once a year and is over well before any noise ordinance kicks in. Having more events in Carytown means more money for those independent vendors and is a positive thing - otherwise our unique neighborhood risks becoming over run by chains and looking a lot more like Short Pump.

I hate the idea because the Watermelon Festival provides me with eight solid hours of grating noise from rock bands. Why do so many people think they have the right to assault others with loud "music"?

I really wish some of those people would grow up and have some respect for the rights of others. Loud monotonous noise is an invasion of privacy and those who enjoy it are probably masochists. Are there really that many unhappy people in the world?

I live a block south of Cary Street and, believe me, those bands are loud.

Thank you for letting me "vent." Am I going to have to move... again??? Thanks a lot, graying "rockers." I guess you don't appreciate me supporting your schools and your retirement.

Once a month??? Hellish.
