Mezzanine - next restaurant to give it a go in Carytown

Mezzanine is the name of the restaurant set to open in the space formerly known as Happy Interactions which was formerly known as Blue Mountain Cafe. How will Mezzanine succeed where others have failed?

First, it’s bringing some star power. Owner Randy O’Dell, dubbed “most popular bartender in the city” by Style has worked at places such as Starlite and The Hill Cafe.

While this is his first venture, Carytown has been kind to other first time ventures by those who have built a name for themselves in the Richmond dining scene, a la Karsen’s.

Mezzanine will taste great too. They will offer a wide selection of locally farmed organic vegetables and meats. The restaurant will also display local artwork.

Mezzanine is set to open within the month at 3433 W. Cary St.

  1. This is quite good news. I truly hope them the best; they are opening at a good time to make maximum use of the deck that the place has. I don’t know why that spot hasn’t quite perked; seems like the coffee shops lasted longer than anything.

But management makes a difference, and experience, and sounds like Mezzanine has a leg up far as that’s concerned.

The name also as a contemporary literature pedigree that, well, my guess is the owners don’t know about; but it’d an amusing for-those-who-know piece of atmosphere to have laying about on a table:

  4. [...] Mezzanine, the most highly-anticipated restaurant to hit Carytown since Karsen’s, is putting on the finishing touches and planning to open this month. Owner Randy O’Dell said that pending inspections, Mezzanine will open its doors in about two weeks. [...]
