Memorial Day Program at the Carillon War Memorial

Posted on | May 17, 2008 | 1 Comment

The Carillon War Memorial in Richmond’s Byrd Park hosts a free Memorial Day program May 26 at 4pm. The ceremony will feature the Franklin Military Academy color guard, music, speakers and the ringing of the Carillon bells. The program is presented by the Carillon Advisory Committee and Richmond Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities.

The Virginia War Memorial Carillon was erected in the 1930’s to honor WWI veterans. The Carillon Advisory Committee is made up of a group of concerned citizens who are appointed by Richmond City Council to preserve the carillon and its tower for the purpose of honoring Virginia’s fallen heroes.

The Carillon Memorial is situated at the south end of the Boulevard, adjacent to Dogwood Dell in Richmond’s Byrd Park.
