It’s a little difficult to tell, but those aren’t penny loafers, they’re boots. Shiny cowboy boots.
He was also wearing boots in this interview, where the author describes Wilder as “nattily dressed.” When asked why he chose to run for Mayor of Richmond, L. Douglas Wilder responded, “I’m doing this primarily because I’ve lost my mind.”
