wasn’t rent because the building (actually two stuck together) is owned by the family. i think it’s just a case of getting bored of it all. 18 years is a long time to deal with trinkets and massive amounts of glitter year round.
I was in there today and they are still open until the 15th. The owner said they are closing due to the economy and they just can’t stay in business right now. They do own the building so shes hoping to rent it out for a while and eventually reopen in a few years. I’m very bummed, that is my favorite store.
[...] Driving through Carytown yesterday, I saw a huge “Closing Sale” sign on one of my favorite stores, Lane Sanson. I was hoping they were just moving – No such luck. [...]
Just returned home from annual trip to Richmond with my friends. Went to Cary St.
to Lane and Sanson and was so surprised to see
it all closed up. What a shame. I loved that store since I lived in Midlothian for years.
It was always part of my christmas shopping.
Since I moved away I always stopped while having a girls weekend. It was fun while it lasted. Good luck on whatever they decide to do later. Hope someone rents the place. To interesting to be just sitting there empty.
actually, they are still open and are having one last sale coming up sometime in april. all fixtures go too. some pretty cool stuff there.
what is Lane Sanson? I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 8 years and I have no idea what store you’re talking about.
Drove by today and saw official close date is 3/30. “All good things come to an end.”
I guess the rent was too high…
