Kollatz Does Richmond
WOTBN contributor Harry Kollatz is doing a guided tour of Richmond this Saturday through the Valentine Richmond History Center. Kollatz will take participants on a tour little-known sites throughout our city (via a bus), weaving in his wonderful tales along the way…
from the 1607 planting of the cross by Christopher Newport to Richmond’s early 20th century shipbuilding industry, including but not limited to the Municipal War of 1870, a giant sturgeon, the first City Hall, and the Hollywood Cemetery pyramid.
Make your reservation at (804) 649-0711, ext. 301. Tix are $20.

I’m too busy already, please let us know if he offers this again.
Ticket purchase for the tour also includes…
access to the Valentine History Museum for the day as well as access to a tour of the 1812 Wickham House. Apparently the bus for the tour leaves promptly at 1 PM. FOlks beginning their tour of the Wickham house before 12 would have time to complete the tour without missing the bus at 1.
(info from the helpful fellow from whom I purchased our tickets for Harry’s Tour)
Thanks for the shout out, WOTB!
Be warned, all, it’s going to be a hot one. The temperature of the day, that is (and the tour)
You will be allowed off the bus on at least three occasions.
This is a Three Hour Tour, though there is no small craft involved, or storms at sea. However, if any ladies show up dressed as Ginger or Marianne, I’ll give them signed books.
Further, since I can never get my bow tie done right, a book will go to the person who is able to accomplish this feat, too.
We may or may not get to he pyramid, depending on the time…we got a lot of ground to cover.

By the way, the “Smokin’ Hot” tour went quite well, though no Marianne impersonators showed up. We had about 53 people, including a couple from Britain. I wore seersucker and we had a great time.
