It's like the goose that lays the golden eggs. Only in this case, if we unmask hope, then all those fines might actually be levied on him. Assuming he couldn't/wouldn't pay it, then the art would take a backseat to a "Free Hope" campaign. If you like a painting, say you did it. Turn yourself in and refuse to pay. Nuckolls says that “the street-art signs are just as illegal as the campaign or other signs posted in the public right-of-way, with maximum fines of $50 per day for each day [a sign] stays up.” I would rather look at Hope's paintings than a bunch of mangled campaign signs, and unlike graffiti, no property is defaced and removal requires only a wrench.
