Halloween costume stores battle for business on Cary Street

11193898516.jpgThe seasonal Halloween store “Spirit Halloween” opened its doors recently on Cary Street in the old Storehouse furniture location, much to the dismay of fellow Carytown merchant Premier Costumes. Both stores are competing for the costume shopper, which can plunk down some serious change for that perfect Halloween costume.

Spirit Halloween has opened 5 stores in the Richmond area and about 500 nationwide, looking to cash in on the holiday’s rising popularity. Premier Costumes reported that Halloween sales are down this year, most likely due to increased competition.

Premier Costumes is located at 3339 W. Cary St.

Spirit Halloween is across the street at 3226 W. Cary St.
