GO TO Basili’s….

Posted on | February 23, 2010 | 7 Comments

Without much fanfare, without a proper sign, and amidst a snowstorm, Basili’s Greek Restaurant opened in the old Carytown Seafood Shop.

They feature gyros. souvlaki, salads, sandwiches as well as some other traditional Greek staples.

The food seems to be reasonably priced. My visit included a pork souvlaki and a Greek salad. Both were good.

Let’s go and support this local business as they try to get their feet off the ground.

I went the week it opened, and enjoyed every bite of my hummus, Greek salad, and finikia (dessert). I can’t wait to go back and try out the other dishes. You can get things to go, so I’ll definitely be snagging dinner on my way home regularly. Nothing hits the spot like good Greek comfort food just like Yiayia used to make :-)

I”ve gone there multiple times. Great gyros…I’ve introduced quite a few people to the place. My only drawback is it gives you some kickin breath all day!

My wife and I have eaten there twice already in the past week- brought some friends the second time…we love it- the taramasalata is great. We were so glad to have another ethnic choice in the neighborhood and the quality of the food is very good. Hopefully it keeps up to standards and they do well.

I cannot believe how good the food is. The atmosphere is nice and clean. I’ve been there 3 times in the past 7 days and I have to say it again- the food is good! Price is fair for the freshness that is brought to your palette. If you like Calamari done right (a little undercooked), and fresh, then that is how you ask for it. That is the way to enjoy it to its fullest!!!! Haven’t tried the desserts yet- would love to hear from others how they are….. ;)
