Get 10% off at Carytown Kroger with your tax refund check
Posted on | April 18, 2008 | 3 Comments

Ok folks – Kroger just announced the deal of the century. Cash your tax refund check at Kroger for a gift card, and they’ll give you a 10% bonus. A $600 refund check = $660 in Kroger gift cards.
A 10% bonus is equivalent to Kroger handing you the keys to the store. Grocery stores make their money based on volume. Margins are razor thin – easily in the single digits. The 10% offer means you’re getting your groceries below cost.
The average family spends over $400 per month on groceries, which means your Kroger gift cards will be spent very quickly, so there’s no worry of expiry.
Even the Catrow’s can now afford to spend $44 per week on groceries for a few weeks.

I’m thinking that other stores may match this offer. Stay tuned to see what Ukrops / Food Lion / Circuit City / etc. come up with.
Checks aren’t mailed until May.

The link to the Catrow’s site should end with “.net” not “.com”

Sears and KMart have matched Kroger’s offer, although I have no idea why anyone would want to spend their refund check there.
