William Grogan, who lives WOTB on Monument, is running for the House of Delegates for the third time. He will face the 68th district delegate Manoli Loupassi and will run as an independent. If you’ve walked down Monument during any event, you know that Grogan’s main campaigning technique is standing on his front steps, which [...]

Ciao moving into Soak

Richmond Biz Sense reports that “Ciao” is moving into the old Soak location at 3031 W. Cary St. I did a little investigative reporting on Commonwealth Commercial’s website, and found that they were asking $3,750 per month for the site, which, for 2,400 sq. ft, is only $18.75 per sq. ft. per year. With rumors of real [...]

Robbers armed with TASERS

In a particularly terrifying report, RTD has the scoop on two robbers decending upon the Museum District last night, one armed with a gun, and the other with a taser. They entered 3411 Monument, and attempted to tie up one person and kick a door down. This all happened in broad daylight at 6:25 pm. [...]

No baseball at UR stadium – THANKFULLY

RTD has the story of Marty Jewell being interviewed about potential uses of UR Stadium… that will not include Minor League Baseball. Currently, only football and soccer are being considered. The structure of UR Stadium would be horrible for baseball. The fact that it was even being considered is scary. Would the West part of the [...]

Biker Event Saturday @ Cycle Thunder on Leigh

Cycle Thunder motorcycles at 3110 W. Leigh is hosting a bike show on Saturday, May 30 from 11-4. You have to be a little suspicious of an event sponsored by Richard’s, the strip joint that semi-recently moved to Scott’s Addition and now boasts several large signs visible on the drive down the Boulevard. No doubt [...]

Community Garden Slide Show

RTD has a great slide show of the community garden at Thompson and Patterson. Things are looking good! The accompanying story says that the waiting list for the garden is 20 people long. However, people tend to abandon their gardens by June, so there’s still hope.

Karsen’s to be reincarnated as “Water Grill”

The White Knights of the Richmond Restaurant Group and Michelle Williams (from Michelle’s at Hanover Tavern) have scooped up the remains of Karsen’s and will turn it into a seafood restaurant in early June. According to Style, the restaurant will feature “a signature water feature.” I’m thinking Bellagio fountains.
