Lincoln-signed copy of the Thirteenth Amendment on display at the Virginia Historical Society
In conjunction with Richmond’s citywide Civil War & Emancipation Day activities, the Virginia Historical Society will display (for one weekend only!) an original congressional copy of the Thirteenth Amendment Resolution that ended slavery in the United States.

Food truck court TONIGHT at Historical Society
The Virginia Historical Society will be hosting RVA’s largest Food Truck Court, a gathering of several mobile catering vendors, for two weeks in April starting tonight from 6-9PM. Participating food trucks will offer gourmet chef inspired food, specialty beverages, and desserts.

VCU to acquire City Stadium?
Councilman Marty Jewell will be hosting a 5th District Community Meeting on Thursday, March 29, 2012 6-8PM at the Randolph Community Center (1415 Grayland Avenue). An agenda circulating indicates that acquisition of City Stadium by VCU will be the main topic for the meeting.

Baliles to challenge for Tyler’s council seat?
Jon Baliles, son of former Virginia Gov. Gerald L. Baliles, is seriously considering mounting a bid for Tyler’s [1st District] seat, according to a number of sources close to Baliles. Baliles is not confirming the potential bid, but he acknowledges that there has been talk of his taking on Tyler for the seat.
