Drug / weapons bust on Grace St.

From tipster Shannon:

I read your blog and live on Grace Street, just one block west of the Blvd and thought you might want to alert your readers to a recent drug/weapons bust that happened this past Tuesday (May 1) at 2831 W. Grace—down the block from my apartment. I saw a bunch of police down there on my way home from work—actually, more like SWAT team detectives—and thought it was just a traffic stop or something until I talked to a friend of mine who lives kitty corner from where this went down and she told me it was actually a bit more serious. I confirmed it on the Richmond Police dept. site. I have yet to see anything in the T-D about it (not that I could find much on their nearly unsearchable new site), and I sent this on to the Museum District Association, but thought it would definitely be worth mentioning as I think we would all like to know where this type of activity is taking place, even if the parties have been arrested, there could still be other suspicious activity going on.

More details scrapped from the RPD’s website after the jump.

Incident number: 20070501-0965
Date: 05/01/2007 5:54

Three actual offenses took place.

  • Drug / narcotic violation: possessing / concealing
  • Drug equipment violation: possessing / concealing
  • Weapon law violation: posession / concealing

Like Lt. Sybil Amin said, make sure you call to report anything suspicious.

  1. Information on the 2800 W. Grace Drug Arrest
    from Lt. Sybil El-Amin:

A CONCERNED CITIZEN approached an officer about a vehicle that contained marijuana and a firearm. The vehicle was sitting on the Kangaroo Service Station lot on N. Boulevard. The officer followed the vehicle to 2831 W. Grace. The driver went inside 2831 W. Grace St, but later came back out. The officer received consent from the owner of the vehicle and retrieved a firearm and marijuana from the vehicle. We obtained a search warrant to search the house and removed more guns and drugs from the house. Two persons were arrested. Again, a helpful citizen assisted us in making an excellent arrest. Please call in all suspicious or illegal activity. the non-emergency number is 646-5100. I can be reached via e-mail: Sybil.El-Amin@richmondgov.com.
