1. It’s interesting that organic milk seems to have a much longer expiration date than “regular” milk.

   When organic milk is within 20 cents of regular milk, I definitely buy it just because I know it will last.

2. It’s my understanding that organic milk only appears to last longer because of how it’s packaged - it’s more a matter of the opaque box vs. the clear plastic jug. Not sure though. I still buy organic anyway.

3. Melissa’s right. It’s the packaging. That milk from the Homestead Creamery (located in Roanoke) is flippin’ delicious. Everything tastes better out of a glass bottle.

5. I buy Homestead Creamery stuff, but I hate the $2.00 deposit on the bottles. I never seem to bring them back.

6. Homestead Creamery products rock and you are supporting state farming. Their butter is wonderful.

   @Daniel…keep a bag at your back door and put in the empties…when you have a full bag, take them with you to Krog.

8. How can you hate a $0.99 bottle of milk? That is far and away the best deal in the supermarket.

12. Sam–Yes, it is true that most foods that are better for you are less processed and don’t have as many preservatives. So, they don’t last as long.

    if you were to extend your philosophy across the board, you would never buy any fresh food because things in a box or a can last longer.
