Dixie Donuts opens Thursday morning!
Dixie Donuts opens Thursday morning in the old Cafe Ole/Ben and Jerry’s spot across from the the Byrd Theater.
They’ll be open Thursday “from 7 am until 5 pm (or until the donuts run out!!)”. Regular hours will be Tuesday-Friday (7AM-5PM), Saturday (8AM-5PM) and Sunday (9AM-3PM).

Based on the menu, it looks pretty artsy. When it comes to donuts, I like basics just fine. Making cute little designs may help attract some folks or impress the Windsor Farms housewife, but if the donut under all that icing sucks, I’m out. For my money, country style’s raised sugar is the bar by which they’ll be measured – nothing fancy, just simple perfection.
Heading over this AM to see how they stack up.
I went this morning just after they opened and got one of each. They were great! My favorites were the Apricot Cardamom and German Chocolate Cake. I can’t wait to see this business grow!
The Dixie Doughnuts were ok. Just ok and certainly not great. I won’t bother with them again.
My free advise is to clean up the restaurant. Also, no hands should touch the food without gloves.
Just okay. One buck for a small, dry donut. No thanks. And they don’t take credit card :-(
I’ll get something else to fill my stomach real estate space.
