Dixie Donuts coming to Carytown

Carytown will be getting a new sweet spot called Dixie Donuts in the next month or so, in the old Cafe Ole spot.

    Specialty doughnut shops are popping up all over the country, and Cafe Ole owner Betsy Harrell Thomas and her partner chef J Frank, former executive chef at The Dining Room at the Berkeley Hotel, have decided to bring one to Richmond. [...]

    Their shop, which Thomas hopes will open in May, will sell cake — not yeast-raised — doughnuts with a variety of flavors and toppings. “I’ve got a long evolving list that’s far beyond what I can produce to start with,” says Frank.

    I’ve sweetly missed Portland’s Voodoo Donuts since moving back to RVA: can’t wait to see /taste what Dixie Donuts has to offer!
