Carytown merchant updates

There’s been a lot of movement recently in Carytown…

Irvin’s Salon is moving down the street to the Lofts on West Cary Street in the Fan. They had been a Carytown staple for 60 years. The business was located at 3024 W. Cary St. (RTD)

The space where Acacia restaurant was located is back on the market. It’s going for $20 per square foot, which is a bit pricey, but the space is gorgeous. The owner didn’t like the layout as a restaurant, so perhaps a different retail concept would suit the space better.

Also, more details about Metro Bakery’s closing - it’s not due to poor sales, but to the Wachovia Securities merger with A.G. Edwards. The wife of the owner works for Wachovia and will be moving to St. Louis as part of the restructuring. The bakery will close after Mardi Gras, so grab a cake while you can. (RTD)
