Carytown business owners give a shout out to Warner
On Friday, a group of protesters from local Carytown businesses met with Senator Warner to express their concerns over the current, proposed health-care reform bill (America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009). The bill was facing a vote on a must pass procedural measure allowing for further debate. On Saturday night Warner gave his “yea”, contributing to the measures 60-39 approval, much to the chagrin of local protesters.
However, Warner has yet to put his full support behind the bill. He was cited in the RTD, stating that he believes more cost containment policies need to be put in place. “If it doesn’t get to the point where it crosses the threshold that I can look you in the eye and say ‘I think this is better than the status quo,’ then I won’t vote for it.”

Which businesses were protesting? Do you know the extent of their issue, are they totally against the bill or just want changes made?
Not really sure, Olympia from the RTD said: “The business owners who met with Sen. Warner were not protesting as much as they were sharing serious concerns about the legislation. Some were totally opposed and others just wanted to see some changes made. It really ran the gamut.”
