Cajun Bangkok receives mixed reviews

It seems like everyone these days is hitting up Cajun Bangkok. . .

JB hit up Cajun Bangkok on Sunday and loved it

We ordered the Coconut Platter that was one of the most creative plates I have ever seen. . . Our experience warrants a repeat visit and if the rest of the menu is anywhere near as good as the Coconut Platter, then it will be worth every cent.

Style Weekly also ventured in

The red curry beef panang worked. . . Without a successful hook, this newcomer poses little threat to its stable neighbors.

Style’s Short Order column also chimed in

[Our waiter] said that they are in no hurry to grab a ton of business as they are working out the kinks currently.

RVA Foodie visited a while ago, and loved the crab soup, and passed on the rest.

What do you think?

  1. I just thought it was strange that there wasn’t a single vegetarian dish on the menu. Granted, that was the day after they first opened… Does anyone know if they’ve become more vegetarian friendly? Maybe some tofu dishes?

  2. I know not about veggie meals but I do feel terrible every time I walk my dog by there–I hope it’s still open by the time I finally visit.

  3. Cajun Bangkok is by far my favorite restaurant in the Richmond Area. Mom’s Siam is pretty good, but it doesn’t come close to competing with the experiences I’ve had at Cajun Bangkok with my wife. The fried crawfish appetizer was just right to get us started, the catfish smothered in crawfish ettoufe’ was amazing, and the bread pudding was delicious. I’ve also had the Carribean jerk chicken there, and it was great (though not for the faint of heart).

  4. After a few visits to Cajun Bangkok and a sampling of several dishes, it quickly became one of our favorite Richmond restaurants. Every time we have been there the wait staff has been very friendly with prompt service. There is no question we will go back and hopefully it will stay around.
