BRING BACK THE TOBACCO BOWL
This is the best photo out of the bunch from Library of Virginia. Apparently, there used to be a college football bowl game played in Richmond called the “Tobacco Bowl.” Brilliant! We must revive this tradition, stick a nationally-unknown sponsor’s name on the front, and have ourselves a game.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, the Agee’s Bicycles Tobacco Bowl.
This photo is from 1949. The rather sparse attendance could be to blame for why there’s no Tobacco Bowl today.

Some sort of tourney between VA, NC, and MD? I’m just trying to think of situations where VT wouldn’t dominate every single year.
Maybe you do FCS (or whatever it is called now) winners from VA vs. NC.
And why not? That use to be one of the biggest things around the city..Everybody went to the pararde. They had that up into the sixties..But alas like eveything else in Richmond anfd with King Tobacco taking a hit it ended. When Broad Street went so did everything else. But doing the Tobacdco Bowl Festival Richmond just glowed.
Boy they were the good ole days.

It could be a lacrosse game…
Great idea!
This must be Richmond Stadium, or what is now UR Stadium. Doesn’t look like Parker Field, to me.
I went to the parades myself. Was quite something.
Cool picture.
No expressway.
Gives you a real clear idea of how building the expressway ripped these neighborhoods in half.
