Ben & Jerry’s, Wachovia robbery suspects nabbed

Police apprehended the Ben and Jerry’s robbery suspect yesterday evening.  He is now in custody.  He is also a possible suspect in the robbery of the bookstore in the Ukrop’s parking lot.  Also, Larry Frey, the armed man who jumped the counter two years ago during a robbery at the Carytown Wachovia, was sentenced to twenty years and ten months in federal prison.  He was also a suspect in numerous other robberies in the area.

    “Police said today they have charged Corey A. Thomas, 30, of the 1900 block of Bloom Lane, with Monday’s robbery and felonious use of a firearm in the robbery of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream in Carytown.”

    Also…

    “The second Carytown robbery occurred at about 6:20 p.m. at the Aquarian Bookstore at 3519 Ellwood Ave. Police said the suspect was not armed and that the robbery is under investigation.”

    Hold up a second. They robbed the Aquarian Bookstore? I ask again, an incredulous tone causing my voice to rise, they robbed the Aquarian Bookstore??? This thief was either driven to the edge of desperation by some awful addiction, or he’s just dumb as a box of hammers, and maybe both.

    I would’ve thought the Aquarian would have stored up enough good karma to prevent such incidents.
