American. Tried watching the British version via BBC onDemand and could barely understand them. Maybe it’s the slow, analytical thought processes in me, preventing me from being able to keep up. :)
British for life! Although I do admit to never having watched the American version. My wife, who’s sense of humor I trust deeply, tells me the American one is good.
I remain skeptical.
British > American season 1
American seasons 2 and 3 > British
I’m withholding judgment on season 4 of the American series because of the WGA strike, but so far the quality seems to have dropped off.
I’m seeing Ricky Gervais’s stand-up in a few months, and I’m really excited! By the way, if you haven’t heard his podcast series with Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington, you’re missing out on hours and hours of the funniest audio on the planet.
British!
But the American one has grown on me…
They’re different enough that I really don’t even consider them to be the same show.
