What a complete con job the VIP tent was! My group of 6 all felt ripped off. What happened to the awesome buffet by Sticky Rice and a host of other great, local restaurants? When we arrived around 8:30 there was a sad salmonella looking layout of 2 (yes 2!) shrimp and a platter of deviled eggs. We were told by several people that the buffet would be re-stocked "at any moment." It never was. Also, the cash bar consisted of bad wine, cheap champagne and even cheaper vodka. The female "bartenders" were clearly hired for something other than their bartending skills. The DJ couldn't mix music - I guess having big speakers and being loud makes up for talent??? Every one of us read the description for the VIP tent before buying tickets and we all thought there would be ample seating, food, etc. There were about 10 tiny tables and the one we finally landed wouldn't hold our drinks it was so wobbly. What a pitiful attempt at a decent party. What a waste of $300+ by myself and friends. We will NOT make the same mistake twice!! Oh, and 1 more thing, the ball rising was so sad... no countdown, no nothing - suddenly it was up and we were all like "Oh, midnight, we didn't know." Everyone around us was looking around too. Happy ripped off New Years.

Actually there are going to be two alcohol "gardens", one on Colonial and one on Dooley. These will be stocked full with beer, wine, and champagne. We do suggest visiting the fine Carytown establishments to have a drink or three. We do not suggest driving later so have a DD, walk, or get a cab.
The ball is being modified from last year and it's rigging will be 100 ft high instead of 30 ft. The ball itself will be bigger as well. It will also be on top of the Byrd Theatre this time (all courtesy of Todd Shall-Vess). Hope you're ready to see the ball rise to it's highest point...
