Acacia moves down the street

Acacia, which closed up shop last year and was rumored to be moving to Rockett’s Landing, has ended up just down the street. The owners bought 2601 W. Cary Street and will be converting it into their new restaurant.
This time, they own the building, and will design the interior to their liking. They will have twice the seating capacity, with a bigger bar and private dining room.

Maybe I’m misremembering, but isn’t that intersection where the bus terminal is? Where is there a restaurant space?

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. The bus depot takes up that entire block. There are some empty spaces on the block before Robinson though. I walk by this every day so I’ll check it out tomorrow.

2601 is the building on the southwest corner of Robinson and Cary. It is the building labeled “Haute Printing.”
The building certainly is less spectacular than their previous digs. I bet they are banking on the revitalization of the bus depot to pull in some business.

to be fair, I never understood why they would put a dining room in a hallway. Once at lunch I was walking to the interior decor place wearing dark pants and a white shirt and a patron asked me for a fork.

With the pace of change of the GRTC, Acacia can expect the bus depot will move out by 2020.

Before, they had some sweet digs and very sub-par food. With the new location, maybe they’ll swap those descriptors. By the same logic, will Can Can move inside the Greyhound station?

They *are* adding flat screen tv’s to the station. Could be nice in there …
