Scott’s Addition’s Baker Equipment building to be converted to apartments

Another Scott’s Addition industrial building is to become an apartment complex. This time, the Baker Equipment building @ 1700 Summit will be converted into 89 one and two-bedroom apartments. $2.6 MM will be spent on the renovation. via RTD

Carytown Sidewalk Sale – May 9th

The Carytown Merchants have organized a sidewalk sale on the day before Mothers’ Day.  Also, bins will be on every corner to collect food for the Central Virginia Food Bank. Hopefully the temperatures will be below 90 degrees.

Carytown Merchants install new president

Thom Suddeth, owner of Road Runner Running Store, is the new head of Carytown Merchants Association. First task – pay bill for Carytown.org domain – the site has been suspended.

Community garden is looking great

I played tennis yesterday at the corner of Patterson and Thompson and got to see the progress on the community garden. It’s looking great! Kudos to all those involved.

Ellwood Thompson’s pulls out of DC store project but still leasing building

Ellwood Thompson’s has delayed indefinitely the store opening in DC. However, it can’t get out of its lease, so it will continue to pay rent and the storefront will remain vacant. Ellwoods sites the economy as the reason for the change in plans.

Did you attend the baseball stadium meeting?

Richmond Kickers season begins April 18

The Kickers will be back at U of R stadium on April 18 at 7pm versus Harrisburg. Tickets are $12. Last year, the Kickers tied for first during the regular season and lost in the playoffs. New York Deli will host a pre-game party from 5-6:30.

New concession stand coming to Byrd Park

Richmond Mag has the scoop on a new concession stand being built at the lake at Byrd Park. Targeted completion date is July 4. A six-sided, cupola-topped brick structure is arising there to house the pedal-boat concession and to sell refreshments. photo by: nbmcmullin
