Richmond fire and rescue scanner available online

This is pretty cool (for about 10 minutes). Richmond Fire and Rescue’s scanner is available online here. In my brief listening window, I heard crews respond to a man walking down I-95 and other assorted randomness. While it’s not necessarily hours of entertainment to listen to, Richmond Fire and Rescue rock.

Belmont Branch – 1956

Local ABC station doesn’t know where Carytown is

In covering the fire at Bogarts, ABC mistakenly referred to the restaurant being located in Carytown. The top story on the homepage is “Fire Damages Carytown Bar.” WRIC is badly, badly mistaken and shows how little the station knows (or cares) about the city it covers. Not the first time and won’t be the last.

Albert Hill Middle School evacuated due to fear of gas leak

When I drove by Albert Hill this morning, I saw the kids huddled outside, many not wearing coats. Turns out, there was fear of a gas leak. Classes resumed about 45 minutes later. Via RTD

Carytown businesses the target of ADA lawsuits

Richmond BizSense has the story of local businesses, including Carytown Sushi, Thai Diner Too, and Plan 9, are being sued for not conforming to ADA requirements.
