March is traffic signal timing month

The department of Public Works will be systematically going through all traffic signals in the city (Staples Mill to Belvidere and 95 to the James) and updating the timing. The result should be that traffic moves smoother. Most of the lights are pretty well timed in the city. However, I have 2 suggestion for focus [...]

SunTrust on Broad robbed for 2nd time in 2009

It’s safe to say bandits like the SunTrust on Broad and Summit. Last robbed on January 5th by Mr. Hoodie, it was held up again, this time by a hooded female. Why a woman was allowed into the bank wearing a heavy, hooded jacket on a beautiful, 65 degree day, is beyond me. SunTrust should [...]

Scott’s Addition is cooking!

There’s a lot happening in Scott’s Addition… Sweetest Thing Bakery opened up on 3119 W. Marshall The Dairy Bar – I don’t know why I’ve never heard of this place but it looks amazing. Grabbing a milkshake after a movie sounds perfect. 1602 Roseneath Richard’s Rendezvous – what an eye sore as you drive south [...]

It’s Hip to be Round adding 2nd location in Short Pump

Not really WOTBNews-worthy, but interesting to see another one of our own add a west end location. And, we know how the results are very mixed – remember Glass & Powder? Interestingly, Bottom’s Up is the latest casualty of westward expansion. The west end location is now named “Paradise Pizza” and will offer thin crusts.
