Thank you, Rep. Bobby Scott, for voting NO on the bailout

Please help find a nice, safe space for our Fan and Museum District and Malvern Area Dogs!

From Emily…   For several months now, I’ve been taking my dog Sydney to the field at Thompson and Kensington after work.  Sydney loves to run around the field and play with other dogs.  All of the dogs are very nice and the owners are very respectful.  They clean up after their pets and enjoy [...]

Hurrah! Fresh gravel laid in alleys!

I drove home to a beautiful sight today – fresh gravel has been laid in the alley between Patterson and Park. No longer does the alley drive resemble a pot-holed road in the developing world. On the downside, my idiot neighbor already left tire tracks while speeding through the gravel, so the benefits may be short-lived. [...]

Is the Carytown vacancy rate actually down?

Richmond BizSense has an analysis of the vacancy rate in Carytown. In three months, their analysis shows that vacancy rate has declined from 22 empty spaces to 17. Their rate doesn’t include square footage changes, but indicates improvement nonetheless. The article also states that some new stores are headed our way, including “Fringehome” and “EmbroidMe.” Anyone [...]

Signal @ Boulevard and Monument getting a much-needed upgrade

Boulevard and Monument is one of the most dangerous intersections in the city. People often violate the no left turn rule, and cars rip through the intersection trying to make the light. Also, it’s a nightmare for pedestrians, as the street lacks walk/don’t walk signals. From Richmond DPW… Crews will replace two existing pedestal poles [...]

River City Cellars is planning on expanding into the Urban Artifacts place – this expansion has been going on for sometime. My emails to them have gone unanswered, and [...]

Style Weekly’s front cover has the story of “Greener Oil,” a company looking to turn local restaurant’s used grease into fuel. The Scott’s Addition company ships the grease to Maryland, where it will be converted into fuel. Restaurants are now seeing some leverage – before they were paying for grease removal. Now, companies like Greener [...]

The latest in and out of Carytown’s revolving door are as follows: 1. NC-based boardparadise takes over Glass & Powder’s vacant location. 2. Robert Grey has been spotted in Carytown, and rumor is that (now confirmed) he is creating a campaign headquarters in EQ3′s vacancy. 3.  The vacant spot previously occupied by Carytown Wine & [...]
