Dogwood Dell’s 2008 Festival of the Arts lineup is stacked

Festival of the Arts is back at Dogwood Dell, and the line-up looks excellent. There’s something going on virtually every night. And best of all, it’s free.

The Richmond Kickers play their 2nd home game of the season this Saturday at 7 PM. The Kickers are 2-2 and face Charlotte Eagles, who dominated the Kickers last time on their home turf 3-0, in a rematch.

With all the chatter over at RVANews on public schools, today’s screening of “2 Million Minutes” at The Byrd seems pretty applicable. 2 Million Minutes is a documentary exploring the relationship between education and economic competitiveness. Honors students in China, India, and the US are followed as they complete high school and prepare for college.

Memorial Day Program at the Carillon War Memorial

The Carillon War Memorial in Richmond’s Byrd Park hosts a free Memorial Day program May 26 at 4pm. The ceremony will feature the Franklin Military Academy color guard, music, speakers and the ringing of the Carillon bells. The program is presented by the Carillon Advisory Committee and Richmond Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities.

All Binsted murder suspects in custody

Richmond police announced that they have all suspects in custody in connection with the Tyler Binsted murder. Two 19-year-old females were arrested and charged.
Howard Reed Scott III is already in custody and charged with murder.
Originally, a 13-15 year old male named “Pete” was a suspect, but he is no longer wanted.
