As you may know, the Richmond Christmas parade is tomorrow, treking from the Science Museum to the Coliseum along Broad Street. Here’s what you need to know… The parade starts at 10am. Broad Street will begin closing at 5am in various locations, so steer clear. The temperatures will still be in the 30s at 10am, so [...]

The Wachovia branch at 3508 W. Cary St. was held up yesterday in a lunchtime burglary. The 5-3 goateed black man handed a note to the teller and did not brandish a weapon. This is the 2nd burglary West of the Boulevard in 3 months. In August the SunTrust on Broad was robbed by a [...]

Carytown and Scott’s Addition restaurant updates…

Style Weekly is chalk-full of restaurant updates in Carytown and Scott’s Addition. Opening Infuzion (ice bar) expects a December opening on Roseneath north of Broad. And, it will be non-smoking. Stronghill Dining Company (across from River City tattoo) expects to open in early 2008. Permits have caused the delay from the targeted Fall 2007 opening. [...]

Get face time with our Congressman

Representative Bobby Scott of the 3rd Congressional District will hold open office hours several times during December for meetings with constituents. Just give his office a call at (757) 380-1000. I just wish he was holding office hours in our area. He made his rounds through Richmond earlier in the year, holding a round-table at [...]

“Hot Float” @ Ben & Jerry’s

RVA Foodie has a detailed review of Carytown’s Cajun Bangkok, which he gave mixed reviews (but thumbs up on the crab soup). After dinner, he and his wife stopped by Ben & Jerry’s to try out their “Hot Float,” which is ice cream in steamed milk, with a bit of whipped cream on top. That’s a [...]

Damn teens: recent vandalism

From tipster Jay: Heard that a bunch of businesses in Carytown were hit with spray paint last night. Not sure if it’s worth a mention, but if anyone saw anything suspicious I’m sure there’s a lot of people who would like to know about it. Anyone heard / seen anything? I’m sure the cops would [...]
